Shilen Patel is a serial entrepreneur and lifetime Tampa Bay resident. Shilen is the Founder and Principal of Cover2 Ventures, a business incubator and management company focused on launching innovative technologies and services which improve quality of life. Its businesses include several active or developing ventures in fields such as Healthcare Technology, Web & Mobile Application Development, Social Media, Business Process Outsourcing, and Medical Supplies. Mr. Patel is involved in each venture as a founder and\or key executive. Mr. Patel is also active in real estate investment and is a founding Director of Central Bank in Wesley Chapel, FL.
Until recently, Mr. Patel spent over 8 years as a top executive at Visionary HealthWare, a Healthcare IT company providing software and services to thousands of physicians in medical practices, laboratories, and clinics in all 50 states which has recently been recognized by Healthcare Informatics as one of America’s 100 largest Healthcare IT companies and by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as one of Tampa Bay’s 5 fastest growing companies. After experiencing 2,500% revenue growth and 1,000% staff growth during his time at the company, Visionary was sold in September 2010 to Compugroup, a publicly traded German company that is the European leader in Healthcare IT.
In 2002, Shilen received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Babson College with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and Management. He is currently enrolled in the EMBA-Global Program administered jointly at Columbia University and London Business School, and he will earn an MBA from each institution upon his expected Graduation in December 2012.
Shilen is also working to remain active in the community and in charitable pursuits. He is an Executive Committee Member and former Sponsorship Chair for the Tampa Bay Indo-US Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, he raised thousands for Heartbeat International by competing in the charity’s annual Dancing with the Stars Tampa Bay event. His parents, Dr Kiran C Patel and Dr Pallavi K Patel, are two of Tampa Bay’s most prominent businesspeople and philanthropists. Their philanthropic efforts are visible throughout the Bay Area (such as the Pallavi Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, the Kiran C. Patel Center for Global Solutions at USF, the Dr Kiran Patel Research Institute at the Pepin Heart Center) and across the globe, facilitated primarily through the family’s Patel Foundation for Global Understanding. Shilen and his wife, Parita, have been married since December 2008, and are preparing for and looking forward to a lifetime of success and service in the Tampa Bay community.
